Lesson 1: Can We Trust the Bible?
Everything in the Christian life depends on one question: Is the Bible truly the Word of God? If it is, it carries authority, reveals truth, and must be obeyed. If it is not, it has no claim over your life. This lesson establishes from Scripture itself why the Bible is reliable and trustworthy.
Lesson Content
1. The Bible Comes from God
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Timothy 3:16). The Bible does not claim to be human opinion. Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21). God is the source. Humans were the instruments.
2. The Bible Is Unified and Consistent
Scripture was written over 1,500 years by more than 40 authors, yet it presents one message: God's plan to save humanity through Jesus Christ. This unity cannot be explained naturally. It points to divine origin.
3. The Bible Has Been Preserved
The word of our God stands forever (Isaiah 40:8). Empires have risen and fallen, but the Bible remains. Its message has not changed.
4. The Bible Defines Truth
Your word is truth (John 17:17). Truth is not based on opinion, culture, or feeling. Truth is defined by God.
5. The Real Issue
The question is not: Do I like the Bible? The real question is: Will I accept its authority?
